At its session held on December 12th 2014, the Croatian Government has accepted the proposal of the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion” for the financial period of the EU 2014-2020. The European Commission (EC) has adopted the Decision on approval of the Programme on the same day.
Within the objective “Investing for Growth and Jobs”, the Republic of Croatia has at its disposal, from the EU budget, a total of 8.397 billion EUR, of which 6.881 billion is allocated to the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and cohesion 2014-2020”. This is sourced from the European Regional Development Fund (4.321 billion EUR) and from the Cohesion Fund (2.559 billion EUR).
Nearly two billion euros from the European Regional Development Fund will be used to support small and medium-sized enterprises, research and innovation, a significant investment of more than 3.5 billion EUR, will be invested in environmental protection, climate change adaptation and network infrastructure (traffic).
