At its 12th session held on March 30th 2016, the Croatian Government has taken a Decision of adopting the Smart Specialization Strategy for Republic of Croatia for the period 2016 – 2020 and accepting Action Plan for the implementation of that Strategy in the period 2016 – 2017.
Adopting the Smart Specialization Strategy is eligibility precondition for using money from European Structural and Investment Funds for Thematic objective 1 – Strengthening research, technological development and innovation. By its adoption, funds allocated for the Republic of Croatia in the amount of 664 million EUR within the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020 shall be unlocked.
Final goals of the Smart Specialization Strategy are fostering of economic growth, increasing investments of business sector in research and development, responding on current social challenges with which Europe and the World are confronted, as well as creating new jobs based on cooperation development between business entities and scientific-research institutions.
